All pottery for sale in the showroom is thrown and turned on an electric wheel from white stoneware or porcelain clay and fired in an electric kiln to 1240 degrees centigrade. A plain leadless mat glaze is used with various stains and oxides to produce different colours. Selenium and vanadium are used for deep reds and yellows and an Albany type slip for the brown-black glaze. Also a plain barium glaze is used with the copper from the rims leaching into the glaze to form a subtle blue halo effect.
The rims and centers are highlighted with a manganese, copper and clay mixture that, when fired becomes bronze and gold sometimes running down from the edges and into the glaze.
